Stranahan's Mountain Angel is a 10 year old American single malt, made from 100% malted barley. Introduced in 2020 as the first 10-year age-stated straight American single malt, it is an annual release, and this is Batch 5. It is distilled, aged and bottled in Denver, Colorado, in a 750ml bottle.
The whiskey matures in new charred American oak. Combined with Denver's high altitude, this gives a fast evaporation of the angel's share, which the distillery credits for the depth of flavour and aroma.
Tasting notes describe cedar-smoked honey on the nose, with salty caramel on the palate that develops into dried apricots and baking spice.
