The Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt is a Japanese single malt from Suntory's Hakushu distillery in Yamanashi, in a 700ml bottle. This is the 2025 edition.
The distillery sits at 700 metres in the mountains of the Japanese Southern Alps, surrounded by forest and drawing on snowmelt water. Peated barley adds smoke to the malt.
The nose has gentle peat smoke, fresh herbs and green apple. On the palate there are honey, white peach, soft smoke, mint and toasted oak. The finish is long and smoky, with light spice.
