A 10-year-old Talisker from the 1980s, in the map label livery and gold in colour.
The nose starts with metal polish, shoe polish, coal smoke and damp grains. With patience, green banana, mango and crystallised lemon peel appear, with a coastal impression behind them. The palate is of olive oil, tropical fruit juices, seawater, ink, green Chartreuse, boiled lime sweets, camphor, black pepper and copper coins. The finish is of good length and drying, with grapefruit pith, smoked sea salt, oysters, green olives and hessian.
