Talisker Magma is a 1978 vintage single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled in 2025 after 47 years of maturation. It takes its inspiration from the volcanic eruptions that formed the island.
The whisky was first aged in refill American oak, then moved into new casks toasted with volcanic rocks from Skye. Only 622 bottles were produced, in 70cl at 48.8% ABV, in glass made from 100% recycled material.
The official notes describe a mineral, maritime nose of wet rocks, seaweed and salt with toffee and a faint bonfire smoke. The palate is creamy and silky, building to spicy heat, and the finish is long and warming with Sichuan pepper.
