This is the 1986 Talisker Distillers Edition, a single malt Scotch whisky that is double matured. It is bottled at 45.8% ABV and is straw in colour.
The nose is mineral and vegetal, with newly cut grass, green tea and metal. With water it opens to apples, fresh pineapple, oranges, candle wax, wild flowers, herbs and fresh butter.
The palate is very peaty and smoky, both earthy and maritime, with salted liquorice and smoked, salted and dried fish. The finish is very long and thick, on dried apples, liquorice and salt, with an aftertaste of crystallised oranges.
