Talisker – 30 Year Old Release 2022 (49.6%)

Talisker 30 Year Old is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, here in its 2022 release at a cask strength of 49.6%. It was reissued in 2021 after a short pause, and only a small quantity is made each year. This release numbers 3,195 bottles and comes in a wooden box. The distillery stands on Loch Harport and was built in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. The nose offers fresh fruit, waxy red apples, white pepper, honey caramel and a little creaminess, with a sea breeze, tropical fruit, cocoa nibs and a beach bonfire. The palate is warm and smoky with chilli and a little salt, then apple, pear, glowing embers and spiced oak. The finish stays warm with pepper, cinnamon, ripe fruit, toasted hazelnuts and a touch of vanilla.
