Talisker – 43 Year Old Xpedition Oak (49.7%)

Talisker 43 Year Old Xpedition Oak is a Skye single malt, matured for over four decades and finished in ten casks. Each cask held a pair of staves that had made the Atlantic crossing with the adventurer James Aiken, who travelled alone along the route of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, from La Gomera to Antigua. It is bottled at 49.7% ABV. The nose is soft and lightly spiced, with crushed apple, wax, varnished wood, sea air and warm sand. The palate is smooth and juicy, sweet and rich with a splash of sea salt. The finish is very long, with sweet chilli warmth.
