Talisker – 44 Year Old Forests Of The Deep

Talisker 44 Year Old Forests Of The Deep is the oldest release from the distillery, made in collaboration with Parley to honour and protect the world's kelp forests. It was released in 1,997 bottles worldwide. The whisky finished in marine oak casks. The staves travelled on Parley's expedition ship to South Africa's kelp forests, were made into ten casks and charred with a small amount of sustainably sourced Scottish seaweed. The nose opens with lemon zest, lemongrass and yuzu, then fishing nets, oysters and fresh seaweed. The palate is oily, with black pepper, liquorice, aniseed and iodine, and the finish is very long and peppery.
