Talisker 45 Year Old Glacial Edge is a Skye single malt from the distillery at Carbost, founded in 1830. It was matured in Ice Fractured Casks, whose staves were exposed to extreme cold to open tiny cracks in the wood and increase the contact between spirit and oak. Only 2455 bottles were released.
The nose combines seaweed, sea salt, mineral chalk and a hint of smoke with dried fruit, vanilla and sandalwood. The palate is rich and buttery, with toffee, caramel and a fine saltiness. The finish is long, with light smoke and a trace of sea salt.
