Talisker Special Release 2020 is an 8 year old Skye single malt, bottled at 57.9% ABV in a limited release. The spirit was distilled in 2011 and matured in refill casks.
It is the first Talisker to be finished in pot-still Caribbean rum casks, which add a dark, exotic sweetness to the maritime aromas and peppery character of the distillery.
The nose offers molasses, salt and seaweed, then pear drops over a smoky base with a hint of charred meat. The palate is medium in weight and soft in texture, salty with light sweetness before pepper takes over. The finish is long, peppery and dry, ending sweet and smoky.
