Teeling – Blackpitts Peated Single Malt (46%)

Blackpitts is a peated single malt from Teeling, bottled at 46%. It is the first smoky whisky the distillery has released, and the first peated single malt distilled in Dublin. The name comes from the area just behind the distillery, once home to many of Ireland's largest maltings. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks, with part of the whisky spending time in Sauternes casks, which adds a honeyed sweetness to the smoke. The nose combines barbecue smoke with ripe pear and honey, orange marmalade, caramel and allspice. The palate is fruity, with pineapple, pear and apricot, then spice, plenty of wood and salted caramel under pleasant smoke.
