Teeling – Blackpitts Peated Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

Teeling Blackpitts is a peated Irish single malt from the Teeling Unconventional Collection. It takes its name from the Blackpitts area of Dublin's Liberties, just behind the Teeling distillery, once home to some of the largest barley malting houses in Ireland. The malt is dried over peat smoke and triple distilled, which reduces some of the medicinal character of a traditional Scottish peated malt and lets a barbecue smoke come through. It matured in ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes casks and is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered. The nose has barbecue smoke and cloves with butterscotch and orange peel. The palate brings applewood smoke, honey and allspice alongside stewed pears and grilled pineapple. The finish returns to savoury smoke with salted caramel.
