Teeling Stout Cask Small Batch (70cl, 46%)

A blended Irish whiskey from Teeling, bottled at 46% without chill-filtration or added colour. It combines grain and malt whiskey, matured first in ex-bourbon casks and then married in Central American rum casks. The final stage is a finish in casks that held Galway Bay Brewery's 200 Fathoms Imperial Stout. The brewery first aged the stout in Teeling Small Batch casks, then returned them, which gave the whiskey dark, malty influences. It began Teeling's Small Batch Collaborations series. The nose offers dark chocolate, truffle, tart apple and a hint of sea spray. The palate joins malt sweetness with roasted barley, sour fruit and black cherry. The finish brings Seville orange, wholegrain biscuit, honeycomb and cream.
