This is an 8 year old small-batch Islay single malt from the Core Range of That Boutique-y Whisky Company. It combines refill ex-Bourbon hogsheads with refill ex-Sherry octaves, and is bottled at 45.8% ABV in its natural colour, without chill filtration.
The nose pairs zesty citrus and earthy peat smoke with roasted malt, hay, fudge, dried fruit and oak. On the palate, dry, punchy peat smoke leads into juicy fruit, vanilla, oak and stewed-fruit sweetness. The finish is lingering, with smoke, fruit, citrus, pepper and drying oak.
