The Balvenie Caribbean Cask is a 14 year old Speyside single malt, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. After 14 years in traditional oak casks, it was finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum.
The finish was developed by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, who filled American oak casks with his own blend of West Indian rums and later replaced it with the 14 year old whisky. The Balvenie is based in Dufftown.
The nose is sweet and rich, with creamy toffee and fresh fruit. The palate is round, with vanilla, sweet oak and tropical fruit alongside a honeyed softness. The finish is soft, warming and pleasantly long.
