This is a 21 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, finished in port casks. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured for at least 21 years in oak casks before the port finish, which brings fruity sweetness and depth. The Balvenie is one of the few Scottish distilleries that still grow their own malting barley, malt it and smoke it by hand.
The nose is rich, with sweet orange, ripe apricot, dried fruit, honey and vanilla, plus nutmeg, spice and a little smoke. The palate adds orange, honey and vanilla alongside dried fruit and spice. The finish is long and warm, with lingering fruit and gentle sweetness.
