This is a 35 year old cask strength single malt from The GlenAllachie, distilled in 1990 and bottled at 50.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Master Distiller Billy Walker chose four cask types for it: Mizunara virgin oak, American virgin oak, Oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximenez sherry.
The Mizunara is a Japanese wood from 200-year-old trees, and it is used alongside the three other casks to balance warm spice, dried fruit, vanilla and molasses.
In the tasting notes the nose has mocha, cinnamon, treacle tart, cocoa, toasted hazelnuts, pineapple, ginger and heather honey. The palate has cocoa, baking spices, chocolate-coated raisins, coconut, brandied orchard fruits and sandalwood.
