The GlenAllachie 7 Year Old Hungarian Virgin Oak (70cl, 48%)

The GlenAllachie 7 Year Old Hungarian Virgin Oak is a single malt from Batch 3 of the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is natural colour and non-chill filtered. Master Distiller Billy Walker sought out oak from the Zemplén forest in the mountains of northeast Hungary, where slow-growing trees give a tight grain. The barrels were toasted and charred to a medium level before the whisky was finished in them. It is described as one of the first single malts finished in Hungarian virgin oak, aromatic and well balanced with a silky richness.
