The GlenAllachie – 8 Year Old Koval Rye Quarter Cask Wood Finish

This is an 8 year old Speyside single malt from The GlenAllachie, finished in rye quarter casks from the Koval distillery in Chicago. Quarter casks are small, so the whisky meets more wood in a shorter time. Here that means a strong influence from the rye whisky the casks held before. The nose is rich in spice, with cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by a little honey and caramel. On the palate the spice returns alongside honey, caramel, baked apples and cloves.
