The GlenDronach – 50 Year Old Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry Casks Highland Single Malt (70cl, 43.8%)

The GlenDronach 50 Year Old is a Highland single malt distilled in 1971 and bottled in 2021, at 43.8% in a 70cl bottle. It matured in Spanish oak casks from Jerez that held Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry, in the distillery's traditional dunnage warehouses. It is the first fifty-year-old expression of The GlenDronach, selected by Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie. Each bottle is hand numbered and comes in a leather case with an embossed leather booklet about the whisky. The colour is antique mahogany chestnut. The nose offers ripe dark cherry and plum, stone fruit, gentian and smouldering tobacco, with bramble, orange and cranberry. On the palate there is dark chocolate, tobacco and cocoa, then plum and black cherry wrapped in velvety espresso.
