The Macallan Triple Cask is a 12 year old single malt matured in three kinds of cask: American bourbon casks, Spanish sherry casks and American oak casks that previously held sherry.
The American oak brings citrus, while the sherry casks add the full fruit and spice associated with The Macallan.
The nose is complex, with vanilla and melon alongside lemon. The palate is balanced, with lemon and citrus, then vanilla, a little smoke and nutmeg. The finish keeps the melon, joined by fresh wood and spice.
