The Macallan – 15 Years Old Double Cask (43%)

This is a 15 year old single malt from The Macallan, bottled at 43% ABV. It is matured in two kinds of oak, European and American, both seasoned with sherry. The American oak, seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry, brings gentle vanilla notes alongside the spicier character of the European oak. Together they give a sweeter, warmer whisky with a golden caramel colour and a creamy mouthfeel. The nose is dried fruit, caramel, vanilla and baked apples, with honey and chocolate behind. On the palate come sweet raisins with hints of vanilla, spice and citrus. The finish is warm with ginger, moving into caramel and citrus.
