This is a Macallan single malt of 18 years, distilled in 1972 and bottled by the distillery in 1990, in a 75cl bottle at 43% ABV. It was matured fully in sherry oak casks from Jerez in Spain. The 18 Year Old was first launched in 1984, and early releases like this one came in a white box with a purple sash, showing Sara Midda's watercolours of Easter Elchies house. The nose brings old walnuts, wax polish, cooked apricots and orange marmalade, with a little leather and tobacco. The palate is fruity, with apricot juice, tinned pineapple, mint drops and smoked tea. The finish is medium-long, on caramelised fruit.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
