The Macallan 20 Year Old 2001 Speymalt Gordon & Macphail (70cl, 54.5%)

This is a Macallan single malt from the Speymalt range, which reflects the long-standing collaboration between Macallan and the independent bottler Gordon & Macphail. It was distilled in 2001 and matured for 20 years in a refill sherry hogshead, then bottled in 2022 at a natural strength of 54.5%. Only 266 bottles were filled, each of 70cl. The nose shows rich stewed fruit, Seville orange peel and festive spices. On the palate come fruitcake, toasted oak, roasted coffee beans and toffee apples. The finish is full and spicy, with a touch of black pepper.
