The Macallan Aera Royal Black is a Highland single malt made as a Taiwanese exclusive release, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was aged in a combination of European and American oak casks, moving away from maturation in sherry casks alone while keeping a clear sherried style.
The colour is described as Scottish heather and honey. The nose is rounded and well balanced, with vanilla, candied dried fruits, orange peel and sweet citrus. The palate brings hints of chocolate, rich dried fruit, smooth honey and a burst of sweet citrus. The finish is medium to long, with lingering vanilla and a gentle warmth.
