The Macallan – Aera (Taiwanese Exclusive Release) (70cl, 40%)

The Macallan Aera is a Highland single malt released exclusively for Taiwan, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was aged in a combination of European and American oak casks. The oak for the sherry casks was grown in Jerez in southern Spain and in forests in the north, then dried for four years. It was made into barrels and left for two years before being filled with sherry, to standards set by the distillery's Master of Wood. The nose is rounded and well balanced, with vanilla, candied dried fruit, orange peel and sweet citrus. The palate has hints of chocolate, rich dried fruit and smooth honey, ending in a burst of sweet citrus. The finish is medium to long, with lingering vanilla and a gentle warmth.
