The Macallan Edition No. 2 is a Highland single malt at 48.2% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is a collaboration between Bob Dalgarno, Macallan's master whisky maker, and the three Roca brothers, co-founders of El Celler de Can Roca.
The whisky draws on seven types of European and American oak cask from four different bodegas, with each collaborator's personality reflected in the blend of flavours.
The nose offers treacle, ginger, toffee apples and rich fruit, with vanilla opening into tropical fruit and subtle green wood. On the palate are black pepper and cloves, chocolate, brown sugar, oak and nuts, then liquorice and brandy snaps. The finish is full, slow and warm.
