This is The Macallan Red Collection 40 Years Old, a single malt bottled at 48.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The Red Collection takes its theme from the reds found naturally throughout The Macallan's making. The colour runs through the distillery's history, from founder Alexander Reid, whose name means "the red", to the Choice Old range released in 1903, and to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles with a red ribbon in the 1980s.
