The Shinobu Mizunara Oak Lightly Peated Pure Malt Whisky (70cl, 43%)

This is a lightly peated pure malt from The Shinobu, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Master blender Usami Ken blends malts aged in sherry and bourbon hogshead casks, then finishes them in Japanese Mizunara oak. It has a robust body with smoky, toasty oak flavours, and is made without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose is minty and creamy, with light peat, a touch of lemon, charcoal ash and smoke. The palate shows moderate peat with toasted oak, charcoal ash, dry grass and a hint of saltiness. The finish is lingering toasted wood with plenty of sweetness from roasted malt.
