Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye is a Kentucky straight rye from Buffalo Trace Distillery, part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. This 2018 release was distilled in spring 2012 and issued in autumn 2018, uncut and non-chill-filtered at barrel proof, 64.4% ABV (128.8 US proof), in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is toffee, candied fruit, mint, cinnamon, clove and fresh rye spice. On the palate come honey, caramel, pepper, toasted oak, nougat and baking spices with a herbal rye note. The finish is long and warming, with allspice, nutmeg, clove and oak.
