This is an 18 year old Highland single malt, bottled by Thompson Bros at 48.5%. It is a peated spirit that spent its 18 years in refill wood.
The nose brings charred hazelnuts, dusty peated malt, burnt sage and rosemary, oily fishing ropes, tar, crushed seashells and heather smoke, with touches of quince and apple peel. On the palate it is powerful, with sharp citrus, heather honey, stewed apples, salt and wet slate, along with smoked ham, anchovies and capers in brine. The finish is earthy and robust, with salty peanut brittle and lingering cigar smoke.
