Thy – 9 Years Old 2016 Danish Single Malt The Auld and the Bold

This is a 9 year old Danish single malt from Thy, made on an eighth-generation family farm on Jutland's coast where the barley, spelt and rye are grown on site. It was distilled in 2016 from peated Odyssey barley and matured in an ex-bourbon barrel, followed by a short finish in an ex-oloroso hogshead. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled it for their The Auld and the Bold Collection, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring. The nose brings dried apricot, orange peel, chocolate and fruit-salad sweets with gentle smoke. The palate is unctuous, with roasted herbs, savoury meat notes and vanilla-caramel sweetness, and the finish moves from soft caramel to toasted oak.
