Togouchi Single Malt is a Japanese single malt from the Sakurao Distillery in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle and was released in 2022 as one of the distillery's core whiskies.
It is aged for over three years in first-fill bourbon barrels in the Togouchi Cellar, a former railway tunnel in the mountains where cool air keeps the temperature and humidity steady.
The nose is fresh, with marmalade, green apple, melon, a forest note and plenty of vanilla. The palate recalls apple pie and cream puffs with delicate jasmine tea, light and smooth. The finish carries bourbon cask sweetness and a sharp, mellow aftertaste.
