Uncle Nearest Straight Rye Whiskey is made from a 100% rye mash bill and bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof).
It was matured in New York for a minimum of four years, then finished in used Uncle Nearest bourbon barrels at the Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee. The brand honours Nathan 'Nearest' Green, the first known African American master distiller.
The nose is praline, nutmeg and white pepper. On the palate come light vanilla cream, caramelised sugar and rye spice, with cinnamon, allspice and a silky texture. The finish is long and well balanced, with lingering spice and dried cranberry.
