Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year Old Lot B (75cl, 45.2%)

This is a 12-year-old wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon from the Van Winkle family, bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV) in a 750ml bottle. Its colour is a brilliant amber-orange. It is made at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, using the Van Winkle family's wheated recipe, as the Van Winkle bourbons have been since 2002. The range pays homage to Julian 'Pappy' Van Winkle. It is best taken neat, as ice or water dilutes its character. The nose is complex toffee. The palate opens with a round, supple entry before turning dry and expansive at medium body, with caramel, nuts and brown spices. The finish is lengthy, rich and deep.
