Blue Ridge Select is an American single malt from Virginia Distillery Company in Lovingston, Virginia, made from 100% malted barley and bottled at 46.5% in a 70cl bottle.
It matures for over five years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, then moves into virgin toasted oak barrels made from Blue Ridge Mountains trees for an average of one more year.
The nose brings jasmine, vanilla, honeysuckle, honey and orange zest, with pear and fresh brioche beneath. The palate opens with cinnamon and brown sugar, then citrus, apricot and honeyed walnuts, ending in burnt orange peel and black pepper. The finish is medium-long, with coconut, black walnut and gentle vanilla.
