W.L. Weller 12 Year is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, aged for a minimum of 12 years and sold in a 1 litre bottle. It follows the original Weller recipe, which uses wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain.
William Larue Weller introduced the first wheated bourbon in 1849, and the softer, sweeter mash bill still underpins Weller today. This bottling won a Double Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is creamy vanilla, caramel and molasses, with lanolin and almond. The palate is layered and moderately sweet, with candied corn, ripe and dried fruit and cocoa. The finish is long and oaky, with mint, fruit and vanilla.
