W.L. Weller Full Proof is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort. Wheat rather than rye is the secondary grain in the recipe, which is the defining trait of the Weller line.
It is bottled at 114 proof, or 57% ABV, the same strength at which the spirit went into the barrel, with no water added. It is also non-chill filtered, so it may turn slightly hazy when cold.
The nose brings vanilla, caramel and toasted oak with the soft sweetness of the wheat. The palate is rich and full, with vanilla, oak and brown sugar, followed by a long, warming finish of wood and sweet grain.
