W.L. Weller Special Reserve is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof). This is the 1.75L size, often called a handle or half gallon.
It uses wheat in place of rye as the secondary grain, a recipe credited to William Larue Weller in the 19th century. The green label gives it its familiar nickname.
The nose is honey, light caramel, vanilla and fresh grain with subtle oak. The palate is soft and smooth, with caramel, light butterscotch and gentle spice. The finish is clean and medium in length, with warm vanilla and light oak.
