W.L. Weller Special Reserve is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace, bottled at 90 proof in a 1 litre bottle.
Wheat replaces rye as the secondary grain, and the name honours William Larue Weller, credited as among the first to use wheat this way in straight bourbon.
The nose is sweet with caramel. The palate brings honey, butterscotch, vanilla, light fruit and soft woodiness, and the finish is smooth with a sweet honeysuckle note.
