Hook Head 1.1 is an Irish single malt from Waterford Distillery's Single Farm Origin series, which releases whisky made from barley grown on one farm. Here the barley is Propino, grown by Martin Foley at Hook Head and harvested on 12 August 2015. The spirit was distilled in week 6 of 2017 after 142 hours of fermentation, and bottled in February 2021 at 50%. It matured in 46% first-fill American oak, 22% new oak, 15% French oak and 17% oak that previously held sweet wine, sherry and marsala. The outturn was 30,066 bottles. The nose is earthy malt, fresh soil, citrus peel, clove, white pepper and salted popcorn. The palate is spicy, with salted caramel, liquorice and chilli chocolate, and the finish is dry and spiced.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
