This is a five-year-old blended Irish whiskey from West Cork Distillers, made up of 75% grain whiskey and 25% malt whiskey. It is triple distilled and matured in first-fill bourbon casks. It is bottled at 40%, non-chill-filtered, with added colour.
West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by childhood friends John O'Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy, and now works in Skibbereen. This bottling belongs to its Classic Blends range.
The nose offers malt and lasting sweetness with citrus, apple and nutmeg, plus hay, caramel and pear. The palate is soft and balanced, with malt, barley, vanilla, light citrus and cracked black pepper. The finish is gentle, with a sweet note of candyfloss.
