West Cork Black Cask 5 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

West Cork Black Cask is a five-year-old blended Irish whiskey, made from triple-distilled grain and malt whiskey. After its main maturation it is finished in double-charred first-fill ex-bourbon casks, which join sweet malt and vanilla to the character of heavily toasted wood. It belongs to the Classic Blends range from West Cork Distillers and is bottled at 40% without chill-filtering or added colour. The nose brings malt and clearly noticeable charred wood, with vanilla sweetness and a light fruit note. On the palate it is soft, with vanilla, caramel and fruit before stronger roasted notes and a little smoke appear. The finish is long and spicy, with the smoke becoming clearer as it fades.
