West Cork Black Cask 5 Year Old (20cl, 40%)

West Cork Black Cask is a five-year-old blended Irish whiskey, made from grain and malt whiskey and triple distilled at West Cork Distillers in Skibbereen, County Cork. This one is in a 20cl bottle at 40%, non-chill-filtered, with added colouring. It matures in heavily charred level 5 bourbon casks, which bring sweet vanilla and oak forward. Pear and dried fruit sit alongside caramel and malt, with grain, toasted oak and pepper adding spice. A faint hint of smoke is present. The nose is warm and grainy with vanilla and brown sugar. The palate is full and soft, with malt, vanilla and creamy caramel. The finish is medium to long, with spicy oak, then gentle pepper and a trace of smoke.
