West Cork – Maritime 5 Year Old Calvados Casks Finish (70cl, 43%)

This is a five-year-old Irish single malt from West Cork, triple distilled and finished in Calvados casks from Garnier. It matures first in first-fill bourbon casks, then moves into the former apple brandy casks for its final period. It is bottled at 43%, without chill-filtration or added colouring. The round bottle is shaped after the glass floats once used on fishing nets, in keeping with the Maritime name. The nose offers fresh apples and white pears with a touch of almond, vanilla and light oak. The palate is full, with raisins, dates, creamy vanilla, ripe apples, pears and soft almond. The finish is balanced, with fruit, fine oak, gentle spice and roasted almonds.
