West Cork Maritime Virgin Oak Cask (70cl, 46%)

West Cork Maritime Virgin Oak Cask is a triple-distilled Irish single malt, matured in first-fill bourbon casks and finished in new oak casks from Kelvin Cooperage. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The Maritime series draws on co-founders Ger and Denis McCarthy's earlier years as fishermen off West Cork. The hand-blown round bottle follows the shape of the glass floats once used on fishing nets. The nose has hay, oak shavings, sawdust and vanilla, with ripe grain and buttery pastry. The palate is very light, soft and balanced, with black pepper late on. The finish is medium, with vanilla and grain.
