Westland Beer Cask is an American single malt from Seattle, Washington, bottled at 46% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It is made from a five-malt grain bill and matured for a minimum of eight years in new American oak, first-fill ex-bourbon and first-fill ex-rye casks.
It then spends a second maturation in six types of beer cask: Scotch Ale, Stout, Brown Ale, Doppelbock, Saison and Stock Ale. The barrels come from Washington State breweries through the distillery's Cask Exchange Program.
Tasting notes describe dried peach, honeydew melon, eggnog cake and cocoa on the nose. The palate brings vanilla pastry cream, caramel, lavender green tea, roasted coffee and dark chocolate, and the finish is medium-long and gently drying with a touch of hop resin.
