Westland Wine Cask Single Malt is an American single malt from Seattle, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is finished in Washington State wine casks, including barrels that previously held Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Tempranillo and Washington Red Blend.
The mashbill uses five malts: Washington Select Pale, Munich, Extra Special, Brown and Pale Chocolate. It is fermented with Belgian brewer's yeast over 96 to 144 hours.
The nose has allspice, raspberry reduction, chocolate wafer and dried rose. The palate brings chocolate-raspberry, Earl Grey tea, dried strawberry, apples and pecans. The finish is medium-long, with tea tannins, cherry and chocolate.
