Beholden 21 is a 21-year-old North American single malt, distilled from malted barley in copper pot stills at Glenora Distillery in Nova Scotia. It was aged in American oak, then finished for four weeks in WhistlePig rye whiskey barrels before bottling at 46% as individual single barrels at cask strength.
It was released in spring 2023 from just 18 single barrels.
The nose shows stone fruit, golden raisin, cinnamon, baking spice and vanilla tobacco, with candied ginger and nutmeg over toasted oak. The palate is sweet and fruity, with raisins, butterscotch, maple, black cherry and praline. The finish is long and velvety, with toasted oak, a trace of smoke and a late peppery warmth.
