Wild Turkey – 17 Year Old Master's Keep Batch 1 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (2015) (75cl, 43.4%)

This is a 17 year old Kentucky straight bourbon, the first batch in the Wild Turkey Master's Keep series, bottled at 43.4% ABV (86.8 proof) in a 75cl bottle. Eddie Russell hand-selected the barrels. The bourbon was aged in both brick and wood rickhouses. Brick rickhouses, with steadier temperatures, are said to give a mild, earthy character, while the wider temperature swings in wood rickhouses help the whisky take up vanilla, caramel and oak. It went into the barrel at 107 proof. The nose is oak and tobacco. The palate starts smooth and silky before turning to caramel and vanilla sweetness, and the finish is savoury spice with subtle oak.
